Your Child Will Thrive in Our Family Oriented Learning Environment
Our goal is to create an exceptional educational environment built on qualified instruction, caring professionals, and local communities of learning to foster a foundation of skills for lifelong achievement.
My name is Melissa and I have owned and operated A Children's Place Learning Center since 2002. I graduated from Bloomsburg University with my Bachelor's Degree in Education.
I have 4 children of my own, all of which have attended A Children's Place Learning Center and gone through our Kindergarten program. Offering a safe and educational place where children and families can come to and feel welcomed has been my dream.
Our center is very family oriented. We have a clean and warm environment that makes you feel welcomed as you enter our doors.
We offer opportunities and experiences to children who would not have the chance to participate in if they did not attend my center.
We have wonderful teaching staff who loves each child as their own and come to work every day because they want to.
Jen - Director/Pre-K
Hi, my name is Jen! I have been working at A Children's Place Learning Center since the very first day and absolutely love it!
I have seen the many changes in the building and children, and love to think back and remember. I love the quality environment and the love of educating children expressed by all the staff.
I attended Moravian College and earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Sociology. I have worked in daycare throughout high school and college, usually with preschool and pre-K aged children.
I love to do art projects, read stories, and sing songs with the children. My role at A Children's Place Learning Center is co-teacher in the Pre-K room with Miss Kelly, as well as director of the center.
I currently live in Pen Argyl with my son Ben, along with our cat. In my free time, I enjoy playing with my son, reading, and chatting with friends.
Ronda - Infant I
My name is Ronda and I have been in childcare for over 20 years. In my experience, it has been rewarding, fun, enjoyable, and most of all educational.
Childcare is truly my passion to nurture and care for children as my profession. I love to work in the infant room. Every day is different, challenging, and satisfying.
My hobbies include movies, bowling, spending time with family, and curling up with a good book. My favorite color is red and my lucky number is 3.
Amanda Babp - Infant I
Hi, my name is Amanda Babp. I have almost 4 years of experience in childcare. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Currently, I am a teacher in Infant 1. Even though most of my experience is in toddler, I thoroughly enjoy working work with our little babies.
My favorite thing to do with the babies is arts and crafts! It is truly amazing to see them learn so much in such a short amount of time. It is an honor to have the opportunity to shape and help our youngest students grow! In my free time, I love to spend time with family and friends and also traveling.
Laura - Infant II
I'm Laura Mertl and in the 11 years I have worked here I have learned so much about infants and toddlers. I graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Education. Even though my background is more on the elementary level, when I started working here with one-year-olds and discovered that they were like little sponges and are as much fun to teach, as the bigger kids.
I have worked in daycare since 1999, but I have enjoyed working here the most because of the educational, fun, and family-oriented environment. I love how over the years I have met some really great and interesting families and my favorite part is watching them all grow up. My own two children Ryan and Gregory have gone through A Children's Place Learning Center and have benefited from this amazing environment.
Stephanie - Infant II
Hello, my name is Miss Stephanie. I started working at A Children's Place Learning Center in May of 2014. I have over 6 years of experience in childcare. I currently work in the Infant 2 room. I love working with this age group. We learn and grow with each other every day, and they remind me how great life is. There's nothing more amazing than watching children do things for the first time.
I am a mother of 3 amazing boys - Tylor, Hunter, and Blake. My little ones Hunter and Blake are also students here and love coming to school!
Stephen - Toddler I
My name is Stephen and I have been employed at A Children's Place Learning Center for a little over one year and I love it here! The children and facility are like family to me. I have been working with children for over 4 years now. I started out as an aftercare teacher at Notre Dame of Bethlehem for 2 years and then became an assistant Kindergarten teacher for 1 year.
I love working with the children because it makes me feel great inside, especially when the parents notice and thank me for being with their children all day! This job has made me realize how much I can't wait to become a dad!
Heather - Toddler I
Hello! My name is Heather Coyne. I have been with A Children's Place Learning Center since September of 2011. I absolutely love the children and my co-workers. I am absolutely pleased to be working in such a warm and friendly atmosphere. I have over 12 years of experience working with children. It's safe to say I'm the warm and fuzzy type... always there to cuddle.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my 3 beautiful children - Jaiden, Brooks, and Griffin. They are the light of my life! With my spare time, my love is photography.
Tami - Toddler II
My name is Tami and I have been working at A Children's Place Learning Center since 2003. I have over 18 years of experience in childcare. I love working here because of the family atmosphere for staff and the families enrolled at the center.
The most exciting thing for me is when the children run and greet you each and every morning. They are always so happy to see you. I think the best thing about working in daycare is the gratification that each and every day you touch a child's heart and help that child advance, learn, and/or excel in everything they do. You are a positive role model for them and will help them grow and develop.
Amanda Klegarth - Toddler I
Hello! My name is Amanda Klegarth and I have been working at A Children's Place Learning Center since September 2016. I am a teacher in the Toddler I classroom and could not be happier. I have been working with children for 3 years now and I absolutely love it! I received my bachelor degree in Psychology from West Chester University in 2015 and am currently looking to pursue a degree in Vet Tech at LCCC.
I love working with both children and animals and hope in the future to combine my two passions and work on animal-assisted therapy in pediatrics. I love the staff and families here! They are so kind, giving, and supportive of everything and anything! I could ask for a better work environment!
Kelly - Pre-K
My name is Kelly and I have been with A Children's Place Learning Center since 2004 and it has truly become my family. I truly enjoy watching the children learn and grow, especially my son Max who comes to work with me daily! I am described as the "outside-the-box" teacher. Children are sponges and need things to absorb.
My lessons are child-centered lessons. I let the kids take the lesson in the direction they want to go. One day we may be learning the planets and the next day we are making and eating space food. I love having fun with the kids. You can always find me playing games with my class, going for walks, or sitting and reading a story. Not only do I work in the Pre-K room, but I am the assistant director as well.
Shandel Sedgwick - Pre-K
Hi, my name is Shandel! I have been with A Children's Place Learning Center for 6 months. Even though I'm new to this place, I have truly fallen in love with it. I am an alumnus of Stony Brook University in New York with a Bachelor's in Theatre Arts and Women and Gender Studies. I have been working in childcare for 8 years.
I have a deep love and passion for children, and I avidly enjoy watching them express themselves through artistic creation. My theatrical background gives me a unique perspective in the classroom, and allows me to be very creative, expressive, free-spirited and fun with all of the kids. I enjoy being a mom to my son Anthony, reading, directing plays and films.
Megan - Kindergarten
My name is Megan and I have been the kindergarten teacher at A Children's Place Learning Center since 2005. I graduated in 2003 from DeSales University with my degree in elementary education. I love watching my class grow and develop throughout the school year. During free time I love to get down on the floor and play with the kids, and also enjoy running around outside with them too!
My husband and I welcomed our first child in February of 2011. She is the light of my life and when I am not teaching I spend as much time as I can with her. My hobbies include scrapbooking, collecting Disney pins, reading, spending time with loved ones, and of course, teaching and learning.
Brittany Stufko - Preschool
Hello!! My name is Brittany. I started working at A Children’s Place Learning Center in February of 2015 as a floater, helping out in all of the rooms. I have been around children my whole life. I grew up with my mom taking care of multiple children in our home. I have many years
of experience with babysitting and caring for children.
A Children's Place Learning Center welcomed me with open arms to work with them. I couldn’t have asked for a better place to work at. I love how friendly my coworkers and the families are. It truly feels like family here! I started as the Preschool teacher in December 2015. I love working with this age group! They have amazing personalities and we are always laughing about something together!
I love coming to work every day and doing the best I can to help the children learn and grow. My favorite part of the day is circle time where the children can express their ideas about the topic we are discussing or anything that comes to mind. I love hearing their stories and thoughts! I also love to plan parties! I love to plan the class parties we have with the children for the holidays and may go a little over the top to make it special for them to enjoy! I love being a role model the children can look up to!
